FAB to record Bingham with the BBC Symphony Chorus
Although we are currently in the middle of recording the complete brass chamber music of Sir Malcolm Arnold, we start another recording project in early May; the brass and choral music of Judith Bingham. We are to record three works; 'Salt in Blood', 'First Light' and the brass only work, 'The Snows Decend'. Judith has been on our wish list of composers we'd like to commission for sometime, so we are particularly looking forward to this recording opportunity with her and the BBC Symphony Chorus. More details to follow.

Two world premieres given during our Scottish Tour
After months of planning, form filling, head banging and general stress, we were delighted to give birth to two wonderful new pieces during our Scottish Tour in March 2005. On Saturday March 12th we premiered John McLeod's 'Chinese Whispers' in Stranraer - quickly followed by performances the same week in Gordonstoun, Kelso and Linlithgow. The latter venue also saw another world premiere but this time from an old friend of Fine Arts Brass, Rory Boyle. On Saturday March 19th we gave the first performance of his 'Elegy for the Black Bitch'. You can read programme notes about both pieces on our premieres page.. Look out for regular performances of both pieces in our concerts over the next season

RVW Trust Award us a grant for our McLeod & Wilby Commissions
We're delighted to announce that the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust have today (March 7th) advised us that they will be awarding us a substantial grant towards the commissioning of new work from John McLeod & Philip Wilby. It's not the first time that they have helped us in the pursuit of new music, but it's been a while. A massive thanks goes to them on behalf of all at FAB.
